Whenever producing machine translations, the translator's task is to provide an understandable version of the message in the target language, using the original message only as a reference. For example, if you were translating from Czech to Kazakh, the translator would need to look at the original message to figure out what the words, phrases and sentence structure mean. The original message is referred to as a working document, and the translated document is referred to as the translation. This "original" should not be confused with the source language or source document. For example, a translation from Czech to English is still a translation of a Czech "original".
